چکیده

We present here the results of the analysis of the stability experiment SeCRETS, performed on two Nb3Sn cable-inconduit conductors with the same amount of total copper stabilizer, but different degree of segregation. The model used for the analysis, including superconducting strands, conductor jacket and helium, is solved with the code GandalfTM. We obtain a qualitative agreement of simulation results and experimental values. The simulation results confirm that in the operation regime explored in the experiment the segregated copper is not effective for stability. The details of the current sharing and the approximation taken for the transient heat transfer are shown to be critical for the interpretation.

Self Field Measurements by Hall Sensors on the SeCRETS Short Sample CICC’s Subjected to Cyclic Load

An imbalance in the transport current among the strands of a Cable-in-Conduit conductors (CICC) can be associated with the change of their performance. In order to understand and improve the performance of CICC’s, it is essential to study the current imbalance. This paper focuses on the study of the current imbalance in two short samples of the SeCRETS (Segregated Copper Ratio Experiment on Tra...

Power System Transient Stability Analysis Based on the Development and Evaluation Methods

A novel method to compute the stability region in power system transient stability analysis is presented. This method is based on the set analysis. The key to this method is to construct the Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs (HJI) partial differential equation (PDE) of a nonlinear system, using which we can compute the backward reachable set by applying the level set methods. The backward reachable set of...

Geomechanical Sanding Prediction in Oil Fields by Wellbore Stability Charts

Sand production is a universally encountered issue during the exploration of unconsolidated sandstone reservoirs particularly during production. The production of sand particles with the reservoir fluids depends on the stress around a wellbore and the properties of the reservoir rocks and fluids. Therefore, it is crucial to predict under what production conditions sanding will occur and when sa...

Transient Stability Enhancement in Microgrids Including Inverter Interfaced Distributed Generations

With increasing the presence of Microgrids (MGs) in the power systems, investigating the MG stability during transient faults is necessary. This study investigates the transient stability analysis of a MG supplied by multiple inverter interfaced distributed generations (IIDGs) during fault. The transient stability of a MG is highly depends on the IIDGs control strategy. A MG, simulated on Matla...

Selection of Resistive and Inductive Superconductor Fault Current Limiters Location Considering System Transient Stability

Superconductor fault current limiter (SFCL) is an effective device to suppress high fault currents. This paper presents a comparative study of resistive and inductive fault current limiters from transient stability point of view.  Appropriate location and type of the limiters in a HV substation is selected by a qualitative approach based on the equal area criterion. Study system is simulated by...
